Team OHIO – Ride Weekend Details

The time has come, the ride is here!! Now to make sure you’re ready…
Here’s all the important info you need in order to have a GREAT weekend riding to #crushMS: 
 

TEAM FUNDRAISING UPDATE:

  • We’ve raised $43,580 and are currently the number 2 fundraising team- nipping at the heals of Team Pure Cycle who are currently first with $49,193 raised! Great work, let’s keep it up and watch those donations roll in!! 
  • FAQ: What if I don’t meet the $300 minimum before the ride?
    • If you have not turned in the minimum donation by the start of the event, the National MS Society will discuss payment options with you, including charging the balance on a credit card. No need to stop there, though – you have until September 15th to be eligible for prizes! 

TLH JERSEY & BIB PICK-UPS:

  • Thursday 8/3 at Winking Lizard Peninsula from 5pm – 8pm
    • Pick up your TLH jersey and your BIBS (if you ordered them)
    • Grab goodies from some of our sponsors including Justin’s, Nuun & Allegro
    • Meet some of your teammates 
  • Friday 8/4 at Century Cycles Medina from Noon – 6pm
    • Swing by Century Cycles Medina anytime after noon (and before 6pm)
    • Grab your team jersey
    • Stock up on any supplies you need for your bike or the weekend
    • Load up on goodies from our sponsors 
  • Saturday 8/5 at the starting line at Brunswick High School from 5:45am – 7:00am
    • Can’t make it to either pick up during the week? No sweat! You can grab your jersey at the starting line on Saturday morning – just look for Sara and all the Left Hand logos 

MS PACKET PICK-UPS:

  • Thursday 7/27 at the MS Society Office from Noon – 7:00pm
  • Friday 7/28 at the MS Society Office from Noon – 7:00pm
  • Friday 8/4 at Brunswick High School from Noon – 7:00pm
    • PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO PACKET PICK UP AVAILABLE THE DAY OF THE RIDE

WEEKEND WEATHER UPDATES:

  • Saturday:
    • High of 74, low of 58
    • Partly cloudy and windy
    • Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph
  • Sunday:
    • High of 78, low of 61
    • Cloudy skies early will become partly cloudy later in the day
    • Winds S at 5 to 10 mph

WHAT TO BRING: 

  • Make sure you bring everything you need to have a safe, comfortable ride… don’t forget your:
    • Amazing 2017 TLH jersey
    • Helmet (you aren’t allowed to ride without one!)
    • Shoes
    • Cellphone
    • Water bottles
    • Sunglasses
    • Sunscreen
    • ID (for drinking beer at the finish line – you cannot drink without it!)
    • Medical Insurance Cards
    • Spare tires/fix a flat kit
    • Ziploc baggies (in case of rain)
    • Rain gear (weather dependent)
    • Pillow & fan for the dorm
    • CASH to buy your 2017 TLH shirt in our tent. 
    • SUPERHERO STUFF! You read that right… Our Team Tent theme this year is Superheroes, so dust off your cape, grab your mask and come prepared to save the world, one mile for MS at a time.

ROUTES: 

  • Check out the Route options for Day 1 & Day 2 – maps & turn by turn directions are available on the MS Society website
  • Be sure to look for Lady Petch’s sign along the route – anytime you see the Left Hand Brewing logo smile big and give our amazing Team Photographer a friendly Left Hand air-five!TLH photo sign OH

SATURDAY MORNING:

  • PLAN FOR TRAFFIC! The parking lot at Brunswick HS is always PACKED the morning of the ride – GIVE YOURSELF EXTRA TIME TO GET IN, GET PARKED AND GET READY!  
  • Jersey pick up – Couldn’t make it to one of our jersey pick ups? No problem! Sara will be set up at the starting line with the remaining jerseys, Justin’s, extra water bottles, etc. Just look for the group of Team Left Hand jerseys gathering by the starting line
  • TEAM PHOTO between 6:20 and 6:30am! Meet at the bleachers at the starting line at 6:20am for a photo promptly at 6:30am. 
  • LINE UP AFTER THE TEAM PHOTO! Plan to take off with the group between 6:35 & 6:45am. 

SATURDAY TEAM VILLAGE:  

  • Team Tent:
    • Our amazing volunteers & sponsors have worked hard to make this year’s Team Tent amazing, as always. After you finish riding, plan to hang out in our SUPERHERO THEMED Team Tent and enjoy…
      • KEG FOOTH BATHS! 
      • COLD LEFT HAND BEER! 
      • SNACKS GALORE!
      • GOOD TIMES AND LAUGHS WITH OUR TEAM!
      • SUPER HERO PHOTO BOOTH!
  • Team Photo:
    • Be at our tent at 4:30pm for our TEAM PHOTO! Bring your smiles, a beer and your best superhero costume!
  • Meals:
    • Included for all riders
      • YOU MUST WEAR YOUR BIKE MS WRISTBAND to receive meals in Ashland’s dining hall
    • Guest meal passes can be purchased directly from the Ashland University Staff in the cafeteria 
  • Beer!!!!
    • All riders receive 3 pints (except TLH… we don’t count for you *shhhhh*)
    • Guest beer wristbands can be purchased at the Team Tent Village entrance for $20 each
    • Don’t forget your ID! Even if you haven’t been 21 in decades…. NO ID = NO BEER
  • Parking: 
    • If you’re leaving your car overnight or have family/friends meeting you in Ashland, please follow the signs and park in Lot M
  • Luggage & dorm key pick up:
    • In the Convocation Center Lobby

    • Inside Football Stadium near the finish line

SUNDAY MORNING:

  • Ashland Cafeteria opens for hot breakfast at 5:00am. 
  • The course opens at 6:30am, so gather your friends and ride when you’re ready! Everyone must be on the course by 8:00am.
