Hey, Team:

Ilene and I wanted to give you a brief update on Team Left Hand happenings here in Texas.  Last week she and I participated in what I am going to call the first Team Left Hand Texas training ride, ever.  We rode from Fair Oaks Ranch where we used to live out Amann and Blanco Road to Spechts’ Store.  It is a historic general store with the Texas Flag Painted on the roof.  It has been closed for a while but it will be re-opening soon according to the sign outside.  Always a good thing for after ride food and refreshment.  Maybe we can convince them to start serving Left Hand Beer!

Today we rode our second official training ride and first training ride in Team Left Hand jerseys.  They look great and even though they happen to be 2014 NC/SC Jerseys we couldn’t be prouder. This ride was organized by Team Velo Valero our MS event sponsor, and is the famous “Pie Ride” which starts and ends at Brietzke Station in New Berlin, just west of town.  About 20 riders showed up for either a 32 or 42 mile ride.  The big surprise was that after we finished the ride, the pie was all gone! Despite that, we had lunch of burgers, fajitas, onion rings and other health food choices.  Unfortunately, once again, no Left hand beer. 🙁

We are working hard talking up the team and building our team roster to include all the folks we expect to ride and all those who we would like to ask to join our team.  We are also developing a list of potential sponsors and have one interested prospect at the $1500 level! (More on that when we have an actual commitment) Finally we are told that recruitment posters are on their way and as soon as we get them we will be papering the city pubs, craft breweries, restaurants and bike shops with them.

Finally, our Bike MS Valero Ride to the River registration is just about ready to open.  VIP registration starts on 2/23 and regular registration is open on 3/1.  Can’t wait until we can tell our riders that we are ready to have them sign up for Team Left Hand as well.  We are stoked and hope you are too!
