Fundraising Tips

BrittFundraising Tips

The time to start FUNdraising is NOW! Here are some ideas to get you started…
1. Embarrassment Cards:
This is such a simple fundraiser that will be loads of fun.Write up a whole lot of embarrassing things on different cards, like a chicken dance for example, that people can do. Then go around to people asking them to pick a card. Once they’ve read the embarrassing command, you give them the choice to either donate an (specific) amount to your cause, or to do the embarrassing command on the card! You should get a mixture of reactions. Some people will donate. And some people will do what the card commands them just for the fun of it.Then you’ll get people who will do the command to have some fun, but who will also then donate the requested amount.

2. Human Targets:
Get some high profile people at your School, Work, Church, or in your community to volunteer to be human targets. Then make water balloons (fill balloons up with water). Or you can use other types of “missiles”, like soft fruits or paint balloons (balloons filled with paint). People then buy the water balloons at a set fee per balloon. And of course, use them to throw at the human targets. I’d suggest you have a set time that people can start throwing from and until. But start selling the balloons way before that time!

3. ‘Hair-Oic’ – Color/Dye It, or Shave It
Raise money by getting sponsored to do something ‘hair-oic’. Color it, dye it, or shave it off! The dye you use can be temporary or permanent, and you can choose one color or go for all the colors of the spectrum – it’s up to you! You could even color your hair a different color every day for a week! THINK ORANGE!

4. Beer Fast
How long do you usually go without enjoying a beer? Why not give up something you really enjoy for 24+ hours?

5. Treasure Hunt:
Create a treasure hunt and challenge your friends to find what you have hidden. Pay to play.

6. Word search:
Create a themed word search and challenge your friends and family. Remember to charge a fee.

7. Hula Hoop Contest:
How many times can you spin the hula hoop? Organize a hula hoop-athon. Don’t forget to get sponsored by the spin, or the length of time you keep the hoop going.

8. Guess the number (balloons in a car, sweets/bottle caps in a jar):
Have a lot of fun challenging your friends to guess the quantity in the jar or car.

9. Concert:
Gather all the talented people you know under one roof and put on a concert for friends and family.

10. Choose the Torture:
Have donors pay $1 a vote to decide which form of “torture” to inflict on you (i.e. dress as a clown, trade a job for a day).

11. For the Birds:
Deliver a group of fake pink flamingos to a donor’s yard and leave a note explaining the cause and asking for a donation to “replant” the flamingos in the yard of the next “victim” the first donor designates.

12. It’s a Bust:
Sell balloons for $10 each and insert a number in each that corresponds to a raffle ticket given to the purchaser. Pop a balloon for each available prize and read off the winning number.

13. Bail Me Out:
Handcuff two willing fundraisers and let them loose when they raise “bail”.

14. Bake Sale:
Breads, Cupcakes, Cakes, etc…

15. Art/Cross-stitch/Crochet:
Can you paint, draw, sew, crochet? Accept donations for your crafts.

16. Bartending:
Can you make a mean Mojito or pour the perfect beer? Ask your favorite watering hole to let you guest bartend for a night. All tips and maybe 10% of sales (or whatever the bar is comfortable with) go towards your fundraising efforts.

17. Photographer:
Sell your pics for donations (donator gets choice of pics).

18. Bee Keeper:
Offer small jars of honey for donations.

19. World Record Challenge:
A world record fundraising event is one of the best fundraising ideas ever because it provides an appealing challenge that everyone can get excited about. By attempting to set a new Guinness World Record with your fundraising event, you practically guarantee that your event will be newsworthy and attract a huge number of participants.

20. Casino Night Fundraiser:
Putting together a charity fundraising event like a Casino Night Fundraiser can be a lot of work unless you’re well organized. Events like these often include live entertainment, a catered dinner, live and silent auctions, sponsorships, ticket sales, tax deductible donations, and a host of other details that require plenty of advance planning but have BIG FUNdraising results in the end.

21. Chicken Poop Bingo:
What exactly is a Chicken Poop Bingo? It’s a country-style fundraising event that combines guessing where a chicken poop will land.

22. Chili Cook-off:
Get folks competing for who has the best chili in town and you’ve got a fundraising winner! It’s a great excuse for a block party type of event with music, craft beer, vendor booths, raffles, etc. You can do the same thing with a barbecue competition.

23. Krispy Kreme Challenge:
Running/Cycling a set distance then scarfing down a quick dozen and running/cycling back.

24. Ice Cream Social:
Who doesn’t love ice cream? As you can imagine, throwing an Ice Cream Social is pretty straightforward. You certainly require ice cream, but you will also need to keep in mind the following tips for making your event cool enough to beat the fundraising heat! What you need:
•Ice cream cones
•Recyclable paper or plastic bowls and spoons
•Ice cream (stick with the basic favorites—strawberry, vanilla and chocolate) or another alternative is to rent a soft serve ice cream machine
